FACILITATOR’S GUIDE

Read, investigate, explain.

Work through one station at a time, across several class periods. Read each short section, save useful notebook passages, and answer the DOK 1 checks using the reading or notebook. Then investigate with the activity. Return to the reading whenever it helps.

At the final station, students compare data and develop an evidence-based explanation at DOK 2 and 3. These are original classroom practice tasks, not released Ohio test items. DOK describes the thinking required, not the length of an answer.

Ecosystem roles and energy flow connect to Ohio 5.LS.1 and 5.LS.2. Adaptations and life cycles revisit earlier-grade foundations and connect them to energy and resource needs. Latitude and biodiversity comparisons extend the lesson; they are not a complete grade 5 test blueprint.

Use the authenticated teacher inbox to assess submitted answers. Teachers review scores and feedback before releasing a report. Existing published reports keep their original question sets. AI practice feedback is provisional. You decide final grades and can override its suggestions.
